Okay, I’m going to be honest right away: some sex toys are fun to try out once, but there are also toys that make you think: wow, this is a whole different ball game. The CalExotics Overdrive Sex Machine Thruster definitely falls into the latter category as far as I’m concerned.

What exactly is a sex machine?

If you’ve never tried a sex machine or a thruster before, the concept might sound a bit intimidating. Basically, it’s quite simple.

For me, that is actually one of the most important features of a powerful sex toy. More options don’t automatically mean you have to turn everything to the max right away. It is precisely by trying out different settings that you discover what you like.

Operate it yourself or use the remote?

Another big plus is the remote control.

You can operate the Overdrive directly on the device itself, but thanks to the wireless remote, you can also control it from a distance. The range is up to approximately 10 meters.

That, of course, makes it interesting for couples as well.

One can relax while the other takes over control. And precisely because you can regulate the thrusting and vibration separately, you can easily vary things while playing.

Hands-free thanks to the suction cup

This is where it gets really interesting for me.

The Overdrive comes with a detachable suction cup, allowing you to use it hands-free on a suitable smooth surface.

That gives you much more freedom than when you constantly have to hold a toy yourself.

You can adjust the position to what feels comfortable for you and then control the movement and vibration with the remote.

A good tip is to always ensure a sturdy, smooth surface to which the suction cup can adhere well.

And yes: it is waterproof

The Overdrive is also IPX7-waterproof. According to the manufacturer, it is suitable for immersion.

That means you can also use it in the shower or the bath.

I find waterproof sex toys a great invention anyway. Not only because it gives you new possibilities, but also because it makes cleaning a lot easier.

Of course, it is wise to always follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions after use.

A rechargeable powerhouse

No hassle with batteries: the Overdrive is USB-rechargeable, and both the thruster and the remote are rechargeable via the included dual magnetic USB cable. A full charge takes approximately 2.5 hours.

After that, depending on the intensity chosen, you can use it for up to approximately 55 minutes at high speed or 75 minutes at low speed.

Also handy is the built-in memory function. The Overdrive can remember the last used setting, so you don't have to start all over again the next time.

And for travel, there is a travel lock, so the toy doesn't just start buzzing in your bag. That seems like a feature you only really appreciate once you've ever heard a toy vibrating unexpectedly in your luggage. 😅

Who is the Overdrive suitable for?

I would mainly recommend the Overdrive to people who already have some experience with sex toys and would like to try something new.

It is definitely not a subtle mini-vibrator. The combination of automatic thrusting and powerful vibration makes this a toy for those curious about a more intense experience.

But don't be tempted to go straight to the max.

My advice: start slowly.

Try out different vibration levels first and then add the thrusting. Then you can slowly discover which combination feels best for you.

That is actually my favorite way to discover a new toy: not by looking at how fast you can cycle through all the settings, but by discovering which settings you actually enjoy.

Especially the combination of thrusting and vibration that you can set independently makes it interesting.

Whether you use it alone or with your partner: the Overdrive gives you quite a bit of control over the intensity and the rhythm.

And my personal conclusion?

The name Overdrive is very well chosen. 😉
